Kelsy Esmoil, a junior at MHS, is very excited about her second year writing for the Auroran Today. She has a true passion for writing and the English subject in general.
“I initially joined the newspaper because I took journalism one. I was going into high school and I really loved writing,” Kelsy said,“It is fun, and I’ve found it helps me a lot.”
Like many other people in the world, she uses writing as her outlet. That is one of the reasons she got into it in the first place. But she also likes being able to write for other people and not just herself.
“To be able to write and have people read it is very fun,” Kelsy said, “I feel like I’m growing into my writing, and I’m not super strictly graded. I can’t exactly explain my feelings, but I can always write it down. You can never mess up, you can just scrap the idea and restart.”
Kelsy loves writing poetry, but she also enjoys writing about pop culture topics, and overall things she’s passionate about. But, this year she wants to try some different things.
“I would be a giraffe because they always have good eyelashes, and they just mind their own business,” Kelsy said.
“I want to explore different stories this year,” Kelsy said, “It’s fun because other people are enjoying what I’m writing.”
Kelsy is someone who would describe herself as “unbiased,” she likes to see all sides of the story before jumping to conclusions. She doesn’t like to judge people before she gets to know them and she thinks that she’s different from most other people her age. Although she is very reserved, she loves to “yap” to her friends about whatever comes to mind.
“I don’t really have a social life,” Kelsy said, “I don’t know what sets me apart from others. I don’t think of that. I just think of who you are as a person. I stay in my lane.”
Because of these aspects of her personality, she resonates with the characteristics of a giraffe.
As for future plans, she was very open and honest about how she’s been feeling this year.
“I am only involved in newspaper. I don’t know how people juggle things so well,” Kelsy said, “I don’t know what I want to do. I feel like it’s so scary. Because I think I should have more things figured out, but I don’t. I love English because it’s helped me a lot, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to make a living off of it.”
Kelsy is a very open and honest person to whom you can always talk. She loves talking about her favorite artists like Megan Moroney or Taylor Swift or poetry. Stay tuned on the website to read some of Kelsy’s stories! They are always an amazing read.
