Angel Aguilar is a very cheery 16-year-old Junior currently attending Muscatine High School, he has a very unique style. Not only his mindset but the way he dresses too! Let’s dive into why and how he dresses!
How would you describe your style?
I like to experiment with clothes I find thrifting or online. I love wearing cargo pants and my stud earrings. I honestly wear whatever pairs well together. My style changes throughout the week; I wouldn’t categorize it as one style. I hate casual, or ¨ I will just put on whatever¨ clothes. I never come to school in sweatpants or pajamas.
What’s your favorite outfit piece/item you like to switch around?
My Adidas bapestas are my favorite shoes to pair with a good outfit. The Lucky You jeans are my favorite, and I found them at a garage sale on one auspicious day. I want people who see my outfits so that I search for pieces I want to wear. When it’s cold I love to wear my golf wang puffer jacket. I never leave the house without a belt. It always adds some flare to my outfits, and even if it goes unnoticed, it always helps create the silhouette I want to show off.
What’s your general color palette?
Natural colors, like green or brown. I love to match blues with blacks, black with whites, white with blue, and greens with brown. I love to mix different colors that are a little different from the norm. I love purples when I can pull them off. I don’t like warm colors because I don’t find that they fit me well.
Is there any inspiration for your style? Music, People, etc.
I love Pharell’s early 2000s style. I love wearing my clothes in a big pants and tight shirt combo. I
always wear a belt. I love chunky and low shoes.
What’s your process of preparing an outfit?
I always start with the piece I want to center my outfit around. No matter what it is, the rest of the outfit needs to be built around it. It helps me figure out what to wear for the day and helps my outfit flow together.
What are some of your favorite places to shop for your clothing?
Yard sales and Goodwill. Sometimes, I go out of town, like Iowa City and Chicago. My brother and I bond over having day trips only for shopping.
What were your older styles like? And how did you grow out of them?
I used to love polos, very professional office attire, and fancy clothing. I had a cargo pants phase but thankfully got over it.
