Kendrick vs. Drake: The Beef Continues

“Diss Me, Diss Me, Now You Gotta Kiss Me.”

If you’ve been scrolling on TikTok lately, like most of us have, you’ve probably come across the rap feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. The two have been throwing shade and allegations left and right, so get ready as we dig deep into the past of  “The Big Three.”

 November 15th, 2023 – “First Person Shooter”

  • In 2023,  J. Cole and Drake released a song called “First Person Shooter”. In this song, the line “We the big three like we started a league,” refers to Lamar, Drake, and J. Cole as the best three rappers in the media.

March 26th, 2024 – Kendrick Lamar “Like That”

  • Lamar collaborated with rappers, Future and Metro Boomin on the song  “Like That”. In this song, one of Lamar’s lines, “It’s just big me,” rejects the concept of the three rappers being on top.

April 5th, 2024 – J. Cole “7 Minute Drill”

  • Initially, J. Cole released a diss-track to Kendrick titled “7-minute Drill” but soon deleted it with the reason being, “it don’t sit right with my spirit” (Applauded him for not getting messy).

April 19th, of 2024 – DrakePush ups” & “Taylor made freestyle”

  • Drake started pushing childish beef with Kendrick by releasing “Push-ups”. In this song, Drake was dissing small things like making fun of Kendrick Lamar’s shoe size, height, and saying he’s a bigger artist than Lamar. Drake also started attacking other artists such as Rick Ross (Drake was cooked).
  • A SECOND diss-track was released the same day titled “Taylor Made Freestyle”. The crazy thing about this song is that Drake added in an AI generated voice of 2Pac and Snoop Dog to “send Kendrick a message” but the song got taken down after 2Pac’s estate threatened legal action. Which Drake responded to in “Family Matters”, blaming Kendrick.

April 30th, 2024 – Kendrick Lamar “Euphoria”

  • Ladies and gentlemen the moment we’ve been waiting for Euphoria, which is Lamar’s diss-track on Drake that is taking the media by storm. Starting strong, only 47 seconds into the song, “Know you a master manipulator and habitual liar too but don’t tell no lie about me and I won’t tell truths ’bout you.” Without a doubt, Lamar DEFINITELY didn’t hold back and named off all of the things that he hates about Drake, along with judging his parenting skills.

“It’s always been about love and hate, now let me say I’m the biggest hater I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress I hate the way that you sneak diss, if I catch flight, it’s gon’ be direct.”

May 3rd, 2024 – Kendrick Lamar “6:16 in la”

  • “6:16 in la” is Kendrick’s next response to Drake. However, in this track, Kendrick is inferring that Drake’s team is secretly against him. “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it. Can’t Toosie Slide up outta this one, it’s just gon’ resurface.” Fans have tried connecting the reference 6:16 to various things, but the meaning of the title is still unknown. But what we do know is that the cover picture used for “6:16 in LA” is the same picture in the song “Meet the Grahams” but the image is zoomed out revealing more.

May 3rd, 2024 – DrakeFamily Matters”

  • “Family Matters” is initially Drake’s response to Kendrick calling him a bad father. In this song, he proceeds to make allegations saying that Kendrick “puts hands on his girl” and that they aren’t the happy couple that media paints them as.

May 3rd, 2024 – Kendrick Lamar “Meet the Grahams”

  • “Meet the Grahams” was posted if not almost immediately after “Family Matters” surfaced. This diss-track starts harsh, directing the first line towards Adonis (Drake’s son). “Dear, Adonis I’m sorry that that man is your father, let me be honest”. Kendrick continues calling Drake out by saying Don’t have a kid to hide a kid to hide again, and what seals the deal on this is in the third verse when Lamar starts with the line “Dear Baby Girl,” claiming that Drake has a daughter but isn’t active in her life. People have tried making connections about whether or not Drake actually has a daughter, but considering how he denied having a son at first, it could be a possibility.

May 4th, 2024Kendrick LamarNot Like Us”

  • This diss-track was released the very next day. The cover image being Drakes mansion. Kendrick did not hold back in this song by first saying. “Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young” followed by “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile” and then continuing it by singing, “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A-Minor.”
  • (At this point, it might be over for Drake).

May 6th, 2024 – Drake “The Heart Part 6”

  • “The Heart Part 6” is Drakes’ latest diss-track denying allegations of him being involved with minors. Along with denying his alleged 11-year-old daughter, saying that he had simply tricked Lamar into believing. “You gotta learn to fact check things and be less impatient,” Drake says. Fans find this contradictory because he was making fun of Lamar for sexual assault, while if he did the research he would know that Lamar’s mom was the victim not him.

While this rap feud is being discussed and pick apart by the media, people seem to think that this track, along with “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us” is going to put an end to his career. Drake isn’t taking this seriously saying, “Your fans are rejoicin’, thinkin’ this is my expiration.”

Is Drake’s career ever going to recover from this? What do you guys think?
