“The Costco guys:” Rulers of the food court and now the media

The Costco guys might be “Bringing the boom” to the media right now, but who even are they, and what do they even do?
"The Costco guys:" Rulers of the food court and now the media

You may have heard the names AJ, Big Justice, The Rizzler, and The Costco Guys, but does anyone know where they came from and their origin? These new internet sensations and public figures found their footing on TikTok, with their original name “The Costco Guys” coming from their TikToks inside the American grocery chain Costco. The first TikToks inside Costco stemmed from their now well-known catchphrases named after items from the Costco food court.

“Double Chunk Chocolate Cookie!” and “A Chicken Bake!” are notable quotes that are now all over the media, which has led to their overwhelming public appearance. Another catchphrase is “BOOM OR DOOM!” which they use to rate said items in the Costco food court. But the father-son duo, “Andrew (A.J. Befumo and Eric (Big Justice) Befumo”, were once just a part of a normal family from Boca Raton, Florida who pursued family blogging on the side before their big break.

For the two comedians, fame came fast. They only became well-known at the beginning of 2024 but now have amassed 62.4 million followers on TikTok as of November 2024. Their big break started as a joke until they started adding members to their “crew” and even releasing music. The most notable new member of their Costco Clique is  7-year-old Christian from  New Jersey, better known as “The Rizzler”. “The Rizzler” gained his initial fame separately for his “Rizz Face”. He joined the Costco Corral because Big Justice loved his Tiktok page and his signature Rizz Face.

Other members of the Befumo family have also joined the hype, with A.J.’s wife and daughter being nicknamed “Mama Justice” and just “Ashley” for his daughter. The Rizzler’s father and family have also made appearances in the Costco Guys series but he is not one of the main characters like the others.

The most unique part of the Costco Chronicles is their path to a music release and several remixes of the same song. The original song is titled  “We Bring The BOOM!” by A.J. and Big Justice. The song was a smashing success just for its pure ridiculousness and comedic aspects. But the public might have given the duo too much attention, as they have now released 4 different remixes. One with their family, one with the Rizzler and some family, and one with another famous figure “Faze Rug”. The Gimmick was funny at first, but now the public is getting tired, and the joke is getting old.

But their big music break is still not the peak of their career, as on October 28th, 2024 A.J, Big Justice, and The Rizzler made their big appearance on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Jimmy Fallon is a staple talk show host, so for a micro internet celebrity to be on the show is a big deal. From the interview, you can tell Jimmy Fallon isn’t thrilled, but that the Costco Crew is head over heels. The show entailed them trying out some Halloween candy, and the Costco crew bringing Jimmy a gift of their staple Double Chunk Chocolate cookie.

Jimmy Fallon is still the peak of the Costco guy’s public career so far, but these go-getters show no sign of stopping their music and now public appearances. They just recently released the sequel to their hit song titled “Still Bringin’ It!” so they still got it.  The general public, not just TikTokers aren’t so sure on how to react to it, but it’s clear they won’t be disappearing anytime soon. What do you think of the Costco guy’s sensation?
