Think back to the last thing you put in your notes app, or if you’re feeling brave, actually get on your phone and take a peek. Does this trigger something happy for you or bring back some of your deepest and darkest secrets?
The blank slate it provides for users makes it perfect for almost anything, but late at night, “anything” can become a scary concept. A locked note can hold so many things, ranging from an important phone number or password to a lengthy paragraph you sent to your now ex.
But, even with this downside, sometimes our best thoughts come from these late-night confessions. Many find themselves coming up with the perfectly niche Halloween costume, Christmas present for their mom, or even channeling their inner writer by coming up with a creative poem that just hits deep.
Best of all, none of it is lost. So, even if you forget, you’ll get reminded each time you decide to do a deep dive into the past few years.
At MHS, Mr. Pace and Mrs. Mohr had something along the same lines, both having a list of things they needed to buy. For Mr. Pace, this was in specific reference to his next Costco trip in Davenport.
This seems to be a pretty common trend for students, too, just not only lists for groceries. Sophomore Aliyah Kirby showed her most recent note, which said, “coconut water, flag with my face on it.” This was an idea she had as a gift for her boyfriend.
Her friend, senior Harlee Lear, had some silver cord hours she needed to report, and her go-to Chipotle order. Although she had no idea why these bits of information were being noted together, the array of emojis throughout made it comical nonetheless.
Junior Peyton Weikert had a fairly practical note, which contained clips of her playing soccer that she simply wanted to be stored in the same place for when she actually needed to use them.
For students in Mrs. Rauenbuehler’s Journalism One class, the answers were a bit more out there, where they mentioned things like, “I have a list of baby names on there. Just in case I have a baby,” and, “I was kind of thinking of what I could include in a dating profile. For when I use dating apps in college and stuff.”
As you can tell, the stories from our Notes App cover all of the small details in life: the whimsical, ordinary, and monstrous.
