Halloween Costume Trends 2023

Read about the costume trends from this year, and my thoughts on if they were valid ones.

With Halloween being a few weeks ago, maybe you found yourself being conflicted about what your costume would have been this year. There were various trends this year displayed on social media. Let’s dive into the best costumes and which ones you may have picked out for this Halloween.

One of the popular trends for costumes on Tik Tok this Halloween season was being an animal called the “opium bird.” You may have not seen this anywhere yet but believe me, it’s a thing, and it is circling.

I actually liked this concept because it was something new, and it was scary, so it just felt right for this Halloween. I would have liked to see this from more people and how they could make it look real, but I was a little disappointed by my expectations.

Another costume was anything to do with Barbie. Many outfits were created based on Barbie, but one that seemed to catch peoples eye was the Cowgirl Barbie costume. This was honestly one that I could have gone without seeing.

Even Barbie is super popular this year, it just felt unoriginal, and it’s becoming boring (no, I did not dress up this year, yes that is boring of me). People just need to branch out more.

With Drake’s new album coming out, and his population on social media increasing, people were dressing up as one of Drake’s looks from his new music video, “8 am in Charlotte.”

Personally, since I am such a huge fan of Drake, I enjoyed seeing this, but the horizons just needed to be broadened (same with Barbie). Especially since there were so many other versions of Drake to dress up as for Halloween.

Hope everyone took some great photos in their costumes, had lots of candy, and a great Halloween!
