Chevy- The Girl Grimace

Life gets crowded in a high school with over 1,000 students, and eccentric people get lost in the mix. Uniqueness is a must, with purple hair that may seem easy but Chevy says she is just a regular human being with a distinct feature.

However, some could argue against that. One person, or rather feline, that could say this is her cat, Badger. Her favorite cat in the world. A funny name for a cat, however, all of her animals are named after other animals.

A little bit of peer pressure and convincing led her to have a spunky color of hair. With bright purple hair, she thinks people may treat her differently because of it, but the purple will stay nonetheless.

“My best friend got blue hair and she kind of pressured me into colored hair… I wanted a fun color of hair.” Chevy said, “I wanted to do something different and spend my own money on things that I like and things that I knew I would enjoy.”

Although she doesn’t have the super busy and extreme high school life that some may think of, she has her job and school, and that takes up her main focus. Chevy works at a popular local ice cream shop, Tee’s. She has adopted many admirable qualities from having a job in high school.

“I have learned work ethic and knowing when I have to get my work done,” Chevy said, “I have gained a lot of social skills from just being in high school that has helped me exponentially with customer service.”

Chevy is a selfless person and finds it hard to describe herself. She sometimes finds that she compares herself to her peers, however, she may not give herself enough credit. She even feels that others could describe her better.

“Unique, Confident, in my own way, and judgmental are words that describe me,” She said, “I try for it to be judgemental in a nice way but sometimes it comes out wrong and I don’t always mean it.”

Someone that is important to her is her sister. Who is in 9th grade at MHS.

“She’s my sibling that is closest in age and she’s like my best friend,” said Chevy.

She likes reading and art, her favorite show is Gilmore Girls, and she enjoys listening to music. She also has a hobby that isn’t too common for high schoolers, however, it is beneficial for her.

She says, “I do pilates. I have some joint problems, and that helps relieve my pain,”.

Although a pilates instructor could work, her future plans are to attend the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. However, she is not sure whether she wants to do something in journalism or if she wants to go into psychology. They both interest her very much.

Chevy is a great asset to our team and we are so excited to have her!
