Chappell Roan, the rising pop sensation, has gained a lot of attention in the media. Her music has been taken by storm with so many popular hits. Recently though, she’s been getting a lot of feedback for things other than her music such as a recent TikTok video that has experienced mixed views from the public.
Chappell began her music career when she was just 17 when she uploaded her single “Die Young.” Soon after that, she signed to Atlantic Records and released an EP called “School Nights.” Following the release, she dropped from the label. In 2020, one of her more popular singles “Pink Pony Club” was released, followed by her first album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” released in 2022.
For the past few months, Chappell has been blowing up all over social media with songs like “Good Luck, Babe”, “HOTTOGO”, “Casual”, and so many more. However, in a recent TikTok, Chappell expressed her experiences of stalking and harassment since her call to fame in the entertainment industry. Some users have gone as far as calling her “unfit” to be a celebrity, and that she should be able to handle it because “it’s part of the job”. Others have supported her in her effort to spread awareness of what celebrities have to endure.
Despite that controversy, Chappell continues to climb to the top and has recently gained the title of “Best New Pop Artist” Along with awards for, Song of the Summer, Best Push Performance, and Trending Video during the 2024 VMA’s where she also performed “Good Luck, Babe” in possibly one of the most iconic outfits.
In addition to her presence at the VMA’s, there has been a clip going around of her Roan on the Red Carpet visibly upset and yelling at a photographer “You shut the **** up!” This, at first glance, is kind of concerning as the clip circulated doesn’t show the guy yelling at her first.
Roan simply said, “I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying, and I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that.”
In a recent interview, Chappell admits that becoming such a big star has been very stressful and overwhelming. Yet again stating how she is just some random girl on the internet and finds it weird that these people are so invested.
Chappell Roan’s journey through the music industry highlights her resilience and talent as an artist. Despite the immense pressure that she and many other artists have been put under, it’s important for fans to support and respect her privacy, recognizing that she is not being disrespectful by sharing her boundaries going further into the entertainment industry.

This was so well said! And I hate that people were able to switch up on her so quickly because she said “no” to a picture. Do people not know that sonder is a feeling, and also that celebrities live their own lives too!
