The Muscatine High School girls’ golf team is making waves in the 2025 season, showcasing talent, teamwork, and persistence on the greens. Competing in the Mississippi Athletic Conference (MAC), the Muskies have demonstrated consistent performances, positioning themselves as legitimate contenders in Class 4A.
In a recent quadrangular meet at Geneva Golf & Country Club on April 21, the Muskies secured a commendable second-place finish with a team score of 226, trailing only Pleasant Valley. This performance underscores the team’s competitive spirit and chemistry.

“This season’s chemistry is different from last year’s, but not necessarily in a bad way. We had a lot fewer girls last year, so we all had to get along,” Senior Myla Halloran explained. “This year we have more girls, so we split up a lot more, which isn’t bad because we all still get along and have fun.”
Rylee Brockhouse stands out with a remarkable 9-hole average of 36.4 and an 18-hole average of 75.67, highlighting her as a rising star in the lineup. Junior Era Boyer has also been a consistent performer, averaging 53.1 for 9 holes and 107.67 for 18 holes.
“We have all improved a lot since the beginning of the season. A lot of us girls have had new PRs on 18 holes and 9 holes, so that’s nice,” said Era Boyer. “I know Myla broke 100 at one of our 18 holes, so that was a big accomplishment for her. And a lot of us girls have gotten closer to breaking 100, I’m sure we’ll be able to by the end of the season.”
Something significant with a small team is supporting each other, even when it is tough.
“We support each other at the end mainly just because we don’t play golf with each other,” Said Era. “Even if someone thought they had a bad round, we say good job because we all have room for improvement, and we all have our days where we have a rough round, but that just happens.”
With a blend of seasoned players and emerging talent, the girls’ golf team here at MHS is not only achieving impressive scores but also inspiring the community with their commitment and passion for the sport.
