How to Ask Out Your Crush: In 5 Easy Steps

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, work up the courage and ask out that special someone :)

You’re walking through the store, you look around and you see all the Valentine’s Day things and it makes you think of that person you have had your eye on. Your hallway crush this semester.

Step One: Make sure they’re single!

There is no reason as to why you should break up a relationship that someone is in without viable reason. Plus, that could be awkward. But… if they are single, go crazy!!!

Step Two: Ask around

Ask people around you if they know if your special someone is looking to spend the holiday with someone. It wouldn’t be too good if you did all the work for nothing :(. So let’s make sure that it’s set on both ends.

Step Three: If you made it here CONGRATS! Start a conversation, figure out their interests, their favorite colors, etc. If you are asking out your partner, you still need to ask them to be your valentine. Putting in the effort does not stop when you get your significant other. Start thinking of gift ideas!

Look at Ninel’s story, and gift ideas, here!

  • Tip: It is cute to give your partner handwritten notes! Show and put in the work. But if you aren’t feeling very creative this Valentine’s Season, feel free to use Crush for your Crush hosted by Key Club where you can buy a pop and populate a note to be delivered to your crush’s third-period class.

Step Four: Begin planning. Things such as flowers, a poster, or more will be amazing. Try and incorporate how much your partner means to you in this. Valentine’s Day is the day of love!

Step Five: Work up the courage!

You only have one life, so best to live it to the best of your ability.

  • Tip: If you are feeling nervous, consider having an external force do the work! Think about tapping a beloved MHS choir tradition, singing valentines where choir members serenade students on behalf of someone else during lunches around and during Valentine’s Day!

Let us know down below if you have the perfect way to ask!
